US stocks trade to new session highs. NASDAQ index leads away

The major US stock indices are trading to new session highs. Each of the indices are working on a three day win streak. The NASDAQ index is leading the way with a gain of 1%. A snapshot of the market currently shows:

  • Dow Industrial Average 228 points or 0.70% at 33087.50
  • S&P index up 32.30 points or 0.80% at 4083.07
  • NASDAQ index at 124.53.41.04 percent at 12138.97
  • Russell 2000 is trading up 31.04 points or 1.76% at 1799.41

Looking at the NASDAQ index on the daily chart below, the price is extending away from its 61.8% retracement of the move down from the August 16 high at 11999.84. The next major target comes against the February 2 hi which reached 12269.55. This month the NASDAQ is up around 6% on the month.
